Many times when you’re a tourist you can just stay on the surface and not really experience the place you’re visiting, which will probably leave you disappointed. Everywhere has something interesting; it’s just about being curious enough to find it and scratch where you have to scratch and stay longer and walk further.~Diego Luna
Heading North For A Few Days
Doug and I are heading to Macon, GA tomorrow to visit with my wife’s family. We’ll be gone just five days, but we aren’t going to sit around and do nothing…
Macon isn’t known for being a hotspot of excitement, so it would be pretty easy to plant ourselves on the couch and watch television for five days.
We’re not going to do that though. As unexciting as Macon is, we manage to have fun during each visit. Food is one of our passions, so we naturally eat a lot. My sister in law is an excellent cook, and we’ll stuff our faces there. We found a couple local places to eat that we look forward to visiting while in Macon too.
One is The Rookery, a long established bar and restaurant. Doug and I gave up drinking a few years ago but The Rookery has the best hamburgers around.
We also enjoy Dawson’s Kitchen, a farmer’s market/home cooking place. Fried chicken… That’s all Doug thinks about…
We’re looking forward to visiting a new Doctor Who Tardis inspired mini library that just opened up there. A few books are being packed in the car today that we intend to trade for whatever catches our interest in the Tardis…
Our books seem to mate and multiply, so we shouldn’t take a couple home with us. We will though…
It’s All In How You Look At It.
I’ll be working on the blog while in Macon too, so keep an eye out for new posts.
It takes just a bit of effort to live a more rewarding life. Doug and I could sit on the couch for a few days, but we won’t. We took some time to find interesting things to do in a small town in Georgia, and our days will be more fun.
It doesn’t even take much to find something new and interesting in life. All it takes is the desire to look beyond your routine and see what’s waiting for you to discover.
Look around. I bet you don’t have to leave town to find some new adventures to add enjoyment to your life…
Safe travels to you all.
Thanks! We’re back home safe and sound.
As you go one way…. I go another. Off to the river. Time to make a connection that I get nowhere else. Look for some posts soon, and look forward to yours.
Jane
Hey Jane- I hope you’re enjoying your river time. Doug and I are back home in Florida and ready to blog!
Yes! Have fun getting lost… Road trips… Travel!!! My fav fun!
We did have fun, and got a little lost… Now we’re back home.
I live in Atlanta. I know what you are talking about. Getting “the feel” of Macon is not going to be easy or let’s say, when you get the feel, it won’t be that deep. YOU WILL STILL FEEL LIKE A TOURIST WHEN YOU LEAVE. And maybe that’s best. But you are a vibration higher than most, so you will have a good time. I guarantee it!
We had fun in Macon but I’m always ready to be home when it’s time to leave. It isn’t known for being a town full of excitement, but we always have fun. My sister in law has lived there her whole life, so she knows where to go…
Oh…Is my picture up on your grid? I don’t know how to do that with my followers/ any clues on how to make a grid like that? I have seen it before with my “bloggers.” Do I have to upgrade? I am at the middle level.
The grid is a widget that I added to my sidebar that displays recent visitors to my blog. I think certain themes allow widgets and others do not. It depends on which theme you use if you can add a similar grid.
Thank you!
