Where’s Doug?

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.~Mother Teresa

Monkey Sabbatical
Doug's idea of a sabbatical...

Doug’s idea of a sabbatical…

You may have noticed that Doug and I have been absent from the blogosphere these past couple of weeks. We’ve been on monkey sabbatical!

I ran into a wall when it came to this blog… I didn’t (and still don’t) know where to go with it from here.

I was spending many hours a day writing posts, researching, drawing and doing maintenance for this blog, and I was burning out.

I began feeling guilty that I was spending so much time on something that provided no income, when I could be using the time to make some money.

So, we stepped back and took a look at what we’re doing here. I value the interaction that this blog creates, as well as the knowledge that I’ve helped some people out there.

I was losing steam on the Connect With Your True Self series… I think I’m going to wrap it up with a few more posts that I’ve planned out, and move on.

Where are we moving on to? I’m not sure yet. We’ve already discussed the true self angle and the Find Your Path In Life stuff… Life and my path through it has been unclear lately. I don’t have a lot to share about it yet that wouldn’t sound like whining and pure narcissism…

What Do You Think?

What would you like to talk about next? Is there anything you’d like to see Doug and I think about, write about and /or make fun of? Let me know… Your ideas may be the spark for a whole new series of posts and wonderful discussion.

It was difficult to make myself sit down and write after two weeks of not doing so. Now that I did, I remember how much I enjoy doing it.

So, what do you want to talk about next?

  1. Doug, are you aware that you can create post and then change the date as to when they appear? I did that for the whole month of May, as I was involved in online class and could not keep up with that and the class.

    1. I am, yes… I do it sometimes if I know the following days are going to be busy.

  2. Hi John, How about some words of wisdom about what to do when life goes wrong and falls apart? How do you pick yourself up again?

    1. Great idea, and I kind of took your advice with my latest post!

  3. Well, you’re an artist and writer. Many of us are. How about posts related to the processes involved in following those passions?

    1. Thanks for sharing your idea… I’m moving in that direction. I’m excited about creating and sharing again…

  4. The heart of the question is what do YOU want to write about? I create art because I have to and I create art which feeds my soul. I’m glad people like it but I don’t create art to fit in with other people’s expectations. If you sat down, had some quiet time, what are you called to write about? What feeds your passion? We readers will write what you create but what you create must come from your own heart, not to produce words readers want to hear. Don’t cater for an audience. Cater for your own heart, soul and passion.

    1. Thanks for the advice. I’ve taken it to heart and I think I’ve come up with some ideas to do what I want and still create what people want and need… Yay!

Hi John, it’s good to hear from you regardless.

  6. Hey John, what about a brain dump? Just blog about what’s in your mind right now. this very moment.

    1. I kind of do that all the time! Maybe I’ve been trying to moderate this a bit too much lately…

  7. I’m amazed at how people can write daily blogs. Even if I didn’t have another job, it would be a challenge. It’s fine to take a break, but I’m glad you’re back. I like the idea of just writing what’s on your mind sometimes. Very freeing idea.

    1. Thanks- It became a bit overwhelming when I didn’t have a clear goal… Sort of felt like a daily slog without a destination… I’m glad I have focus now.

  8. Hi John, welcome back. Write about what you should do when everything falls apart

    1. I have that topic scheduled for some future posts… 🙂

      1. Can’t wait to read it.

  9. blogging ebbs and flows…i can relate to much of what you write about! i’m sure your creative juices will soon be flowing again! 🙂 aleya

    1. We’re on a comeback!

      1. great! 🙂

  10. I’m waiting to hear about you creating posts and articles related to childhood games and stories that inspire even so-called adults. You could do a modern day version of The Little Prince, only, instead of the arrogant rose, our hero could be devoted to a stuffed monkey.

    1. That’s a great idea. I need to re-read The Little Prince for inspiration…
