A good teacher, like a good entertainer first must hold his audience’s attention, then he can teach his lesson.~John Henrik Clarke
Saturday is our out and about day. We visit our friends at the retirement community, have lunch and usually do some thrift shopping.
It was in a thrift store that I ran into a piece of my blog history… A Doug business card.
A few months ago, I went around hanging business cards for my blog on every bulletin board in town (and nearby towns). This was at least seven months ago…
One is still hanging on the bulletin board in the thrift store we visited today. I don’t know how much traffic it sent to my blog, but it’s been there a long time. I have to believe at least a few people checked out Doug Does Life because of it…
I’m sure there are a few cards still hanging around after all these months. Each of them is a 24 hour a day advertisement, for free. While I haven’t made a fortune because of my cards, yet, the right person might see it one day.
And if not, so what? It’s free local advertising. Each reader is valuable and the cards are a totally passive way to capture more of them.
Give it a try yourself. Maybe you’ll get lucky and capture some new readers. If nothing else, your neighbors will finally know what you’re doing locked in your house all day and night…
thanks for reminding me 🙂 ❤
You’re welcome…
Love your card-leaving strategy!
Thanks… It makes me feel proactive if nothing else.
This is so great, Doug!! I just wrote about the real world and blogging today as well! 🙂 Rock it out, bloggers!
Sometimes it seems there’s a barrier between real life and online life… I’m trying to merge the two and just make it “life”…
You and me both! I just wrote about that in Social Media Is Real Life the other day. Our paths cross again!
Such a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you find it useful…
What a great idea! I just had business cards made but only to hand out to friends or people I know. It never occurred to me to post them anywhere! Brilliant!
I found bulletin boards in grocery stores, pharmacies, garden centers, dollar stores… They’re everywhere!
