Big Changes, Little Time.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.~ Laozi

She isn’t quite so small anymore…

OK! There’s been a lot going on here in monkeytown in the past month.

I can finally expose what’s been taking up so much of my time and mental effort lately.

As I mentioned before, I was successful in preventing my daughter from being taken out of state, the ruling being passed down about three weeks ago.

I recently learned that her mother is going to move out of state anyway, and I will have my daughter living with me starting TOMORROW!

She was living with her mother and would stay with me on the regular visitation schedule. I will now be the primary parent of a 14 year old girl… Doug hid under the bed when I wrote that!

Seriously though, this is what I’ve wanted ever since her mother and I divorced… I’ve been working on the legalities of the switch, figuring out how to get all of her stuff down here to my house and figuring out what I need to get her enrolled in her new school.

This is a sudden change for all involved, but I’m excited…She convinced me to let her bring her TWO cats, so now we’ll have five cats, 2 dogs, six chickens and a stuffed monkey…

Maybe I’ll open a petting zoo…

  1. Wishing you a perfect step into your future tomorrow :)….and besides, petting zoo can be pretty cool 😉

    1. Thank you- It’s a busy weekend. Today we’re getting a truck and heading out to pick up all her stuff…

  2. It’s so interesting how something we’ve wanted for a long time, takes so much time, then seems to happen suddenly with big changes as if almost overnight. But the process was happening all along, building to this time, now it’s here! …and a whole new part of the journey…a new adventure, begins! Enjoy!

    1. Thanks- Yes, it’s here and it’s another scramble to get things done… Getting a truck to get all her stuff, gathering paperwork to register her for her new school… Plus going out to dinner for her birthday. it’s a hectic weekend, but worth it!

  3. That’s fabulous news – enjoy every second with your delightful daughter!

    1. Thanks Susan…

  4. Congratulations! Daughters are a blessing! Hope your daughter fills your home with all the happiness you have ever wished!

  5. Oh my goodness, congratulations!!! Glad to hear such good news for you!

  6. Congratulations and lots of good wishes for many good times with all!

  7. Oh wow! I have been playing catch up with posts and just got to find out your good news! How very exciting! Congratulations!

    1. Thanks! It is exciting, but stressful too. So many changes all at once. I’m managing though. I keep telling myself that no matter what, I’ll still be alive in a month… It helps to keep things in perspective.

  8. This is awesome Doug, Good luck with your daughter!

    1. Thanks Greggory!
