Enlightened Monkey Knows Himself.

A human being has so many skins inside, covering the depths of the heart. We know so many things, but we don’t know ourselves! Why, thirty or forty skins or hides, as thick and hard as an ox’s or bear’s, cover the soul. Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there. ~Meister Eckhart

Doug and I are taking some time  to reflect upon what we’ve learned about ourselves so far. We’ve drawn out our real desires and decided what we do and don’t want in our lives. Doug is good with coming up with questions, so we’ll use the question format once again. I seem to be the only one who can hear Doug’s questions and answers… I wonder if that should worry me… Maybe no one else can hear him because he doesn’t really have a mouth…

Anyway, we’re going to distill what we’ve learned so far and make concentrated statements… Sort of like soup stock, but they have a bit of a monkey aftertaste.

We’ll get a firm idea of our talents and desires and then move on to matching them to needs and niches that we can fill, which we’ll explore in future posts. To help visualize the new us, Doug came up with the following questions:

What am I learning about my desired path?- I’m learning that I want to be a more spiritual person. I want to incorporate my values into my work so I feel as if I’m making a difference. I want to help others wake up from the glumness of “reality” and live as their authentic selves.

What Have I been doing to progress down this path?- I’ve been writing these blog posts, as well as planning for blog expansion. Other projects are being developed in the first steps towards Doug domination of the world! Doug and I have been exploring lots of ways to develop and nurture our talent and dreams…

What do I want to learn on my new path?- I want to learn how to get my ideas and my assistance out to as many people as possible. I want to learn how to show others that the life they’ve been handed doesn’t have to be the one they live.

What have I learned about myself? What have I learned about my past behavior?I’ve learned that I avoid situations out of fear of making a mistake… out of a fear of looking like I don’t know what I’m doing.

What do I want to do at this time?- I want to keep opening doors, and continue to eradicate the remnants of the inner critic. I want to be fearless, to be confident and to assist others be the same.

  1. I am so grateful that you, and Doug, were born…

    1. Thanks Delaynee! We’re glad we were born too. It was too difficult trying to write a blog form the place where we were before we were born… and blogs weren’t invented yet… Very difficult.

    2. Out of curiosity… What makes you so grateful?

      1. I’m not sure. My intuition just guided me to say that. Probably because I felt happy reading your post. 🙂

      2. Good! It’s nice to know we can make someone happy by sharing our monkiness…

      3. Out of curiosity…What intrigued you about my blog?

      4. I’m a fan of Eckhart Tolle. I saw your post in the reader about his books as inspiration and clicked “like”.

      5. Nice! I’m reading them now. I’m a voracious reader. You’re a shaman? Is it you that visits me in my sleep? Did you read my succubus post?

      6. Yes, I’m a student of shamanism, and a shamanic practitioner. Part of my path is offering help to others, which is why I decided to start this blog. I rad a lot as well. Eckhart Tolle is dense but good… I’m not sure I was visiting anyone during dreamtime… Did your visitor have a tail? It may have been Doug. He’s a naughty monkey…

      7. Haaaa…awesome. I sent you an e-mail.

  2. That was eye-opening and got me thinking, thanks!

    1. You’re welcome! I’m glad the post reached you.
